The People of God Summer Camp - Registration’s Open

Some of the most memorable and loved youth work in our region takes place at summer camp! The People of God have been running a week-long children’s camp each summer since 1999. These camps strive to glorify Jesus by teaching children about Him and by fostering an environment where Christ-centered relationships can be formed.

Camp is open to children who were in 3rd through 6th grade during the previous school year. These students, and the volunteer staff, participate in prayer times, Bible studies, and lots of fun camp activities: BB guns, archery, swimming, campfires, crafts, the "C-Games" (a series of inter-cabin competitive relay races and other activities to promote camaraderie and healthy competition) and much more! Through all of these activities, the presence of the Lord is evident.

Camp is ecumenical, with both campers and staff coming from a variety of Christian faith backgrounds. In the Sword of the Spirit, we believe that the Body of Christ is called to be unified and that the Holy Spirit, Who is being poured out on all people, empowers the Christian life and is a means of the unity we pursue. At camp, children experience that belief lived out and see the blessing that those of other backgrounds can be to us in our walk with the Lord.

Campers are invited to pray for and be open to a deeper relationship with Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Again and again, we hear former campers express how life changing camp was. At camp they took ownership and began pursuing a personal relationship with Christ, rather than simply participating with their families. This is one of the most exciting things we see happening at camp.

The People of God’s summer camp is July 12th-19th this year. Registration is open until June 12th, but there is only space for 80 campers, so if you know a child who would love to attend, don’t hesitate to get them signed up at https://www.pogpgh.org/camp.

Those without children attending can still help! Prayer is an essential ingredient to the success of camp each year. Interceding for campers, staff, and the week as a whole makes a difference in the lives of everyone attending. In addition to praying for the general success of camp, you can sign up to pray for one or more campers individually using this form. Want to get even more involved? Camp is always in need of more adult volunteers. If you are willing to complete the required youth work clearances and training, and feel called to help, please send an email to pogcamp@gmail.com.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
