Lamb of God Joins the Region
“The Lamb of God Community in New Zealand has been a full member community in the Sword of the Spirit for many years now. After a process of discernment, they felt called to join the North American Region. We are delighted to be journeying with them!”
Who is the Lamb of God Community? Like all of the communities in the Sword of the Spirit, we are a group of Christians called to live as disciples so that the world might know that God has sent Jesus Christ (John 17:11). We live in our own homes, worship in our respective churches and pursue our own careers. But we share a common identity and the same prophetic call from the Lord. Our aim is to help individuals to grow in conversion to Jesus Christ and grow in Christian maturity. Sound familiar? It should! The Lord has called all of us to this great mission!
Our community is unique in that our membership spans our entire nation. The Lamb of God Community is a national community, with branches spread throughout New Zealand. We have established branches in Auckland, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Christchurch, Nelson, Blenheim and the Southern branch covering Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Balclutha and Invercargill. 300 members in the Lamb of God – men, women, and children – love the Lord and seek to honor him with our lives.
We in the Lamb of God are an inter-generational community encompassing both married and single people. We treasure the gift of family life and children, and we are so grateful to the Lord for our youth. We are committed to passing on to them an “inheritance that does not decay, spoil or fade away.”
We are ecumenical and multi-cultural! Kiwis, Europeans, Indians, Filipinos, Samoans, Malaysians, Chinese and others comprise our rich cultural mix. We believe we are called to be one people. And this unity is a sign of what life will be like in heaven. There will be no division. Love will replace hatred, and commitment to one another will replace isolation. The Lamb of God is a little bit like heaven in this regard!
“My first memory of the Lamb of God Community was that I was loved and accepted without condition, and it was a genuine love, not a love of the world. I still feel this today.
This is truly a unique way to live out my call and flourish as a Christian, in a ‘not so’ Christian focused world, and I’m here for the long haul.”
The Lamb of God Community has a National Youth Programme called Kairos New Zealand (KNZ). It aims to support the youth from the age of 10 onwards to teen years and when they become adult single men and women. You know how important it is for youth to have friendships and mutual support so that their faith can grow and be nurtured. For those a little older, our Auckland branch has a vibrant UCO, and both Auckland and Wellington have outreaches to young adults.
The Lamb of God Community publishes a monthly newsletter called ‘The Chronicle’. If you would like to receive the monthly edition of the Chronicle, please contact the Lamb of God Community National Administrator (Mike Cullimore) at nsa.lambofgodnz@gmail.com.
Blessings to all of you from your brothers and sisters down-under. We are delighted to be part of the North American + Region!
